Military History Society of Rochester and Museum

A not-for-profit historical society chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York, under Federal 501(c)3 guidelines. Our collection and library includes artifacts and material from all eras of the military history of the United States and is open to the general public free of charge.  Currently on display are items from our collection that range from the War of  1812 through the present.

U.S. Naval Academy Museum

The U.S. Naval Academy Museum welcomes more than 100,000 visitors annually from all over the world. Located in Preble Hall on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, the Museum offers two floors of exhibits. Displays combine historical artifacts with video and audio technology to bring to life the stories of the men and women who have served their country at sea.

National Maritime Museum of Lisbon

The Navy Museum (Portuguese: Museu de Marinha) is a maritime museum in Lisbon, dedicated to all aspects of the history of navigation in Portugal. The museum is administered by the Portuguese Navy and is located in the tourist district of Belém. It occupies a part of the neo-Manueline Western wing of the Jerónimos Monastery with the National Museum of Archaeology, as well as a modern annex built to the North of the monastery. The exhibits include historical paintings, archaeological items and many scale models of ships used in Portugal since the 15th century.

Doran Bay Model Ship Museum

Officially opened in September 2011, the Doran Bay Model Ship Museum is one of Eastern Ontario's most fascinating new attractions and one of the finest private collections of model ships in the world. In celebration of the bicentennial of the War of 1812, the Museum has a unique exhibit of British and American warships from that period. 

Mystic Seaport

Mystic Seaport is the nation’s leading maritime museum. Founded in 1929 to gather and preserve the rapidly disappearing artifacts of America’s seafaring past, the Museum has grown to become a national center for research and education with the mission to “inspire an enduring connection to the American maritime experience.”

Antique Boat Museum

If you haven't been to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton NY you are missing out on one of the finest collection of classic small craft that have graced this planet. The collection includes Chris Craft, Hacker, Garwood and Elco craft and others of an era gone by. These craft are incredible specimens of restoration! The annual boat show and parade alone is worth a trip. The museum boats and members parade in flotilla form, for all to see from dockside or the water. The museum itself has been modernized and features a greeting/admissions center, display area. While the main display building hosts one of the finest collections of watercraft with some even available for boarding. There is even a boat restoration shop where one can witness the restorative arts.
